Primeur time

A cold and wet spring

After a drought in 2022, the start of 2023 was very wet, with mild temperatures favourable to the development of mildew. Growth began with an early bud-break, followed by mild conditions in May for slow, uniform flowering.

The August sun

Due to a lack of sunshine, plant growth was long for the month of July. We did everything we could to spread out the harvest and thin out the leaves to eliminate the humidity in the bunches.

From 10 August onwards, a heat wave swept through the vineyards, reaching temperatures of up to 42 degrees. Some bunches were affected by the sun.

Harvest before the rain

Nature being well done, we realised the benefits later, as these few warm days brought the tannins to perfect ripeness.

After fermentation, tasting

With degrees lower than 2022, this 2023 vintage is subtle and delicate.

It is distinguished by its aromatic freshness, preserved from excessive heat, but it still retains an interesting structure with very ripe tannins.

Finally, the 2023 vintage can be enjoyed in its youth, while offering excellent ageing potential.
